Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown ruled out after suffering knee injury vs. Giants
View Date:2024-12-24 07:07:03
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown suffered a right knee injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the New York Giants.
Brown was hurt after being tackled by Giants cornerback Nick McCloud on a 9-yard reception from quarterback Jalen Hurts. The fifth-year receiver grabbed for his right knee and initially remained down on the field before limping off and heading to the locker room.
He was initially listed as questionable to return but was ruled out in the third quarter with the Eagles trailing 24-0. Hurts and most of the Eagles' starting offensive line had already been pulled when Brown was confirmed to be fully shut down.
Brown, 26, ranked third in the NFL with 1,447 receiving yards entering the game. The three-time Pro Bowl selection, who was traded from the Tennessee Titans to Philadelphia in April 2022, has played a pivotal role in the Eagles' offensive ascension. The team ranked third in both yards and points per game last season en route to reaching Super Bowl 57.

The Eagles have already clinched a playoff berth, but re-capturing the NFC East would require Philadelphia to beat New York and for the Washington Commanders to beat the division-leading Dallas Cowboys. A wild-card spot would mean opening the playoffs at the NFC South-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
